San Mateo County (March 28, 2019) – On Wednesday, authorities released the identity of a San Mateo County woman killed in a rollover crash earlier this month.
The office of the Santa Clara County medical examiner identified the woman as 86-year-old Inez Barranti of Millbrae.
This fatal crash happened in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County earlier this month. Around 2:30 on March 13 a 2002 Hyundai was traveling east off I-280 near the Crystal Springs Golf Course.
A white 2016 Volkswagen, driven by a 16-year-old girl, collided with the Hyundai. The girl was attempting a turn from the northbound highway off-ramp onto Golf Course Drive when the collision happened. The crash caused the Hyundai to roll and come to rest on its left side.
Both the driver of the Hyundai and his two passengers were taken to Stanford Hospital. Barranti died at the hospital. Injuries to the driver were moderate and the second 89-year-old passenger complained of pain but was not severely injured. The driver of the Volkswagon or her 15-year-old female passenger were not injured.
